An armed citizen shot and killed an active shooter who opened fire at a shopping mall in Indiana on Sunday evening, preventing the attack from becoming a mass-casualty event. The man entered Greenwood Park Mall at around 6:00 P.M. and walked to the mall's food court. He was armed with a rifle and multiple magazines of ammunition. The man then opened fire on the food court crowd, killing three and injuring multiple others. Before being able to kill others, however, a yet-to-be-identified armed bystander pulled out a gun and fired at the shooter, striking and killing him. Four of those hit by gunfire were women, while one was a man. The injured are in stable condition, according to Greenwood P.D. Chief Jim Ison. Of the heroic citizen, Ison said said: “The real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began."
