CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta found himself in some hot water this week during an interview with Joe Rogan, host of "The Joe Rogan Experience." During the interview, Rogan asked Gupta if he was "bothered" by the fact that CNN lied about Rogan's choice of COVID-19 treatment. Rogan, who announced September 2nd that he had tested positive for COVID, opted to avoid some of the less proven treatments such as Remdesivir. Instead, Rogan took the drug Ivermectin, which has proven over and over again to effectively treat COVID. Rogan is unvaccinated, and CNN attempted to use Rogan's diagnosis to their advantage, accusing Rogan of taking "horse dewormer" instead of the vaccine. However, the plan backfired when Rogan announced a day later that most of his symptoms had gone away, citing the effectiveness of Ivermectin. Rogan confronted Gupta about the network's decision to lie about his path of treatment on the podcast, saying this: "It’s a lie. It’s a lie on a news network. And it’s a lie, that’s a willing, that’s that’s a lie that they’re conscious of, this is not a mistake." Gupta seemed to acknowledge the lie, saying that CNN "shouldn't have" made that claim about Rogan's treatment. Gupta tried to defend the network and change the conversation, to no avail. Rogan shamed Gupta, telling him that he should be bothered by the fact that the network is lying.
