Ex-MSNBC Analyst: GOP Is Becoming Insurgency, Dems "May Have To Fight" Neighbors To Maintain Control7/14/2022 Credit to The Intercept Article by Haddon Lockyer Malcolm Nance, a former analyst for MSNBC News, said Wednesday night that the Republican party is becoming an "insurgency," claiming that Democrats may need to fight their neighbors in order to maintain power. The pundit's statements came while he was appearing as a guest on Peacock's "Zerlina." During the interview, Nance claimed that the January 6th Hearings proved that a relatively high percentage of Republicans wanted to "essentially" crown Former President Donald Trump as "king" during the protests that occurred in Washington D.C. in January of 2021. Speaking with host Zerlina Maxwell, Nance said: “Here is the United States — to characterize that to understand what kind of terrorism we might be dealing with, you have to label it as white extremism because we have 30% of the population of the United States who no longer believe in the democratic norms that we established in the founding of the country. Let’s just be honest about that. The January 6 uprising was an attempt to overthrow American democracy. And we have now learned from the hearing that Donald Trump intended to go there to march down to the well of the House of Representatives and essentially be crowned as a king.” Maxwell followed up, asking Nance to explain why he claimed that the Republican party was becoming an insurgency. Nance then disproved his own claim, stating that January 6th was "one event" while insurgencies consist of a chain of violent events. However, Nance claimed, without evidence, to have seen plans of "violence on the street." The analyst then claimed that liberals may have to "fight" those who want to "kill Americans," claiming that "the ‘they’ in my title is those who want to kill Americans are your neighbors.” MAXWELL: “You call what is happening an insurgency. We have heard that term in foreign wars recently in Iraq. Talk about why you apply the term insurgency to what you see here as a persistent and ongoing threat of domestic extremists?"
