On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill permitting Florida residents to carry concealed firearms without a permit. Under the new law, Floridians over the age of 21 will be able to carry a gun without having to obtain a permit or pay a fee. The signing of the bill, titled House Bill (HB) 543, has been seen as a major victory for many of DeSantis's supporters in the Sunshine state. Speaking about the new law, National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) interim executive director Randy Kozuch said: “The NRA applauds Florida for becoming the 26th state to adopt the vital Constitutional Carry legislation. This NRA-spearheaded initiative empowers Floridians to exercise their Second Amendment rights without undue bureaucratic barriers, affirming the fundamental right to self-defense.”
