Article by Haddon Lockyer The Consumer Price Index (CPI) hit a shocking 9.1% on Wednesday, further detailing the weak state of the economy under President Joe Biden. The CPI hasn't been this high since 1981, during the last year of Jimmy Carter's presidency. Before Biden took office in January of 2021, Carter was considered one of the worst presidents in history because of the effect his administration had on the economy. However, many are suggesting that Biden's performance has been much worse for the economy, and they have cited the newest CPI as proof. Inflation has been steadily rising since Biden took office in early 2021, and Americans are beginning to feel the results of Biden's policies at the grocery store. Below are the products that have risen the most in price since last year. Fuel:As most Americans have noticed, gas has been rising steadily for quite some time. In fact, fuel oil has gone up 106.7% since last year. While part of this increase can be credited to the war in Ukraine, gas was up long before the war began as Biden shut down multiple major American pipelines as a result of his "green" policies. Food:Food prices have skyrocketed over the course of the past year, with the most notable leaps being:
Transportation:Even ignoring gas prices, Americans are still having to pay more to travel, even if they are using public transportation. Airline tickets are now 37.8% more than they were a year ago. Public transportation (busing, etc.) has seen a 26.3% increase.
Hotels:Even if you have the extra money for airline tickets, be prepared to spend more at hotels. If you're staying at a hotel or motel, you're looking at an extra 22.2% for a room. Credit to Fox News
