Former President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign raised over $4.1 million dollars in the 24 hours following the release of his mug shot, setting a new record for his team.
Trump, 77, was booked at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA, Thursday evening. The former president had his fingerprints taken and was required to pose for a mug shot, which was released shortly afterwards. Though Trump's enemies hoped to see the mug shot hurt his campaign, it seemed to have the opposite effect. According to fundraising numbers given by the campaign to POLITICO, Trump raised $4.18 million on Friday alone. By Saturday, the former president's campaign had drawn in $7.1 million. Much of the donation money came through the purchase of pro-Trump merchandise, including a new "NEVER SURRENDER" line that features Trump's mug shot.

Another factor in the donation jump is Trump's Thursday evening return to Twitter, now called X. Late Thursday evening, the GOP candidate posted for the first time since CEO Elon Musk restored his account in November of 2022. In the post, Trump shared his mug shot along with a link to his website. The post was viewed over 254 million times.
The news comes as Trump faces four separate indictments and a slew of criminal charges. Have comments? Share them below. Recently, The Informed Youth announced our Insiders initiative.
