As Fox News's daily Tucker Carlson Tonight episode drew to a close on Friday, April 21st, neither host Tucker Carlson nor his viewers knew that it would be the show's final episode... and his final night on-air with the network altogether. Therefore, it was business as usual in the studio. Carlson signed off by promoting his new Tucker Carlson Today special on Fox Nation and invited his viewers to return to view his massively successful show again on Monday.
But Monday's broadcast never came. At least, not with Carlson in the host's chair. On Monday morning, Fox Media announced that the network had agreed to "part ways" with Carlson, who has been the company's most popular cable host for months upon months. In Quarter One of 2023, Carlson drew an average of 3 million nightly viewers. Fox Media has yet to give a reason for Carlson's ousting, and their investors are paying for it. After news of Carlson's departure broke, his viewers went back to rewatch his final broadcast to see if they had missed any clues predicting that the show might end. What they found instead was entirely different. Carlson's final interview as a Fox News anchor was rather unconventional - the perfect send-off for a spectacularly wild and unpredictable show such as Tucker Carlson Tonight. For his final guest of the night, Carlson invited a heroic pizza delivery driver named Tyler Morrell to share his story on national TV. Earlier this month, Morrell was mid-delivery in Aston, PA, when he spotted a teen suspected of carjacking on the run from the police. The suspect drove his car through a lawn before hopping out of the vehicle in an attempt to evade the encroaching officers by foot. Unfortunately for the 17-year-old criminal, Morrell got in his way. The Cocco's pizza delivery driver stuck out his own foot and sent the boy flying. Speaking to CBS News, Morrell said: "I could see him get away from the cop and I'm like, 'I'm right here, so I might as well do something. Yeah, I might as well throw my leg out.'"

Brookhaven Police Chief Michael Vice praised Morrell, 29, while speaking to press. "He made a split second decision to help out. He saw the police and saw what was happening, and decided in that moment that he was gonna help us."

Shortly after Morrell's story went viral, Carlson invited him onto the show for a virtual interview. The two discussed the incident and Morrell's heroics before concluding the interview. On Friday night, however, Morrell gained another layer of notoriety by unwittingly becoming the last guest on the show before its sudden cancellation. With just minutes left in the broadcast, a camera panned to show Morrell walking onto the set with multiple pizzas, and for the last two-and-a-half minutes of Tucker Carlson Tonight to air live, the host and the Morrell enjoyed slices & a few laughs. TUCKER: "Tyler Morrell joins us in-studio. He will deliver literally anywhere. Tyler, it's so [laughter] great to meet you in person."
The two discussed their orders, with Morrell joking that Carlson's sausage and pineapple order was "criminal."
Carlson ended his nightly show by advertising his Fox Nation special, "Let Them Eat Bugs." Viewers noted that Carlson seemed unaware that his show would be ending. "...We'll be back on Monday. In the meantime, have the best weekend with the ones that you love, and we'll see you then."
At this point, the former host has yet to publicly address his exit from the news giant. Have comments? Share them below. Recently, The Informed Youth announced our Insiders initiative.
