Conservatives all over the United States are speaking out in support of Former President Donald Trump after news broke Thursday that the 45th president had been indicted by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. Many of the president's supporters claim that the investigation into Trump & the resulting indictment are merely an attempt to keep Trump from winning the 2024 presidential election.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was quick to criticize the indictment as a weaponization of "our sacred system of justice" against Trump. McCarthy tweeted: "Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election. As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump."
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh noted the connection between theTennessee Capitol storming and Trump's indictment, adding, "There is no justice system in this country. There is a system, but justice is not what it's interested in."

Representative Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) also shared her support for Trump, saying, "My President is innocent and the only one standing in the way of these modern day tyrants, just like our founding fathers did, to protect each of us from evil."
Journalist Jack Posobiec seemed unphased by the news. Instead, Posobiec stated that Trump's indictment will only help his 2024 presidential campaign.
Ohio Senator JD Vance (R) took aim at Alvin Bragg's weak-on-crime record as Manhattan's district attorney. He wrote: "A week ago a video circulated of a lunatic harassing a family on a New York subway. He hurled racial slurs (the family was white) and threatened them. Alvin Bragg thinks that man should walk free and Donald Trump should go to jail for a fake misdemeanor. It’s despicable."
Perhaps the most important reaction to the news, however, came from Trump's top Republican rival: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In a statement published Thursday evening, DeSantis said that the state of Florida would not assist in extraditing Trump out of the state. DeSantis called the indictment "un-American" and slammed Bragg for "stretching the law to target a political opponent." “The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American. The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”

The news of Trump's indictment comes as the former president ramps up his 2024 presidential campaign, which he launched in November of last year. Trump held his first official rally last Saturday in Waco, TX, with hundreds - if not thousands - in attendance. According to reports, Trump will likely surrender to authorities on Tuesday.
