Credit to Politico Voters are already out in five different states, voting in the 2022 midterm primaries. Here's what to look for as results come in this evening for each state: North Carolina -North Carolina Senator Richard Burr (R) is retiring, and the competition for his seat is on. Former President Donald Trump's endorsements play a big role in all of the primaries taking place today, and, in North Carolina, Trump has endorsed Rep. Ted Budd for the race. However, former N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory and Rep. Mark Walker are also vying for the GOP nomination. After several recent controversies, many wonder whether or not GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn can hold onto his seat in the U.S. House. Michele Woodhouse and Sen. Chuck Edwards are running against Cawthorn, but Cawthorn has received Trump's endorsement, which may be enough to keep him in the House. Idaho -Idaho's gubernatorial race is definitely one of the most interesting of the 2022 midterms so far. Incumbent Gov. Brad Little (R) is battling his own lieutenant governor, Janice McGeachin, for the governorship. Trump has endorsed McGeachin, whose pro-freedom response to COVID-19 won the support of many conservatives. Kentucky -Senator Rand Paul (R) is running for reelection in the U.S. Senate race. He has held the seat since 2011. Paul has been praised by conservatives for his bold stance against White House official Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is responsible for many of the failed policies that arose during the coronavirus pandemic. In the House, Thomas Massie (R) is running for reelection. A strong choice for conservatives, Massie has held the seat since 2012. Oregon -Oregon's primary is wild. Oregon, as a blue state, will use the primary to determine just how blue they want to be, if they want to be blue at all. In the House, centrist Rep. Kurt Schrader (D) is trying to win reelection, but progressive leftist Jamie McLeod-Skinner is standing in his way. Schrader does have Biden's support, but Biden's approval ratings are in the dumps. Biden could end up being more of a hindrance to Schrader than a help. Pennsylvania -Pennsylvania is a test of Trump's influence... even when a large part of his base thinks he's wrong. In the Pennsylvania Senate race, Trump endorsed celebrity Dr. Oz, who joined the race claiming to be a conservative. However, a quick look at Oz's past debunks that claim. Oz is facing off against former hedge fund manager David McCormick and a surprise challenge, Kathy Barnette. Barnette surged late in the race, exposing Dr. Oz using clips from his own TV show. Though she is largely unknown, conservatives may end up defying Trump's endorsement to vote Barnette. In the governor's race, Trump has endorsed Sen. Doug Mastriano, who took a strong stand against election fraud after the 2020 elections. Have something to say about this article? Comment below! (Some social media comments will appear on our site.)
