Credit to District Four Public Health Article by Haddon Lockyer Are you awake yet? A boy, 13, from Falkland, British Columbia, faced discrimination on Monday after he was denied service at a walk-in clinic for being unvaccinated. The boy was skateboarding with his mother and siblings when he fell and injured his wrist. They waited a few hours, but after the boy continued to complain about his wrist being sore, his mother, Kate Stein, decided to take him to a walk-in clinic. She called the local Enderby Medical Clinic and asked the receptionist if they could slip in an appointment for her son. The receptionist said that they had room, but then questioned if the boy was vaccinated. When his mother told her that he was not, the receptionist told her to take her son to another clinic. Stein claims that she and her husband are both vaccinated, and that she is not opposed to the COVID vaccine. However, her son just turned 13, and they didn't want to rush into getting him the vaccine. She spoke out about the event, saying: “I was flabbergasted. The doctor wouldn’t see us. He was only accepting fully vaccinated patients.” Sein shared great concerns about the event, pointing out that things are headed in a bad direction if doctors begin to pick and choose who they will assist. “What is happening in our province that health care is now optional? If people can’t access health care, I think we have a problem. For those who claim that similar things would never happen in the U.S., think again. Just days ago, Conservative commentator Candace Owens was denied a COVID test because of her political beliefs. At the time, Canada is ordering all people to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If they refuse, they are not to be permitted acces to any major businesses.
